The good die young...
  • Today my friend from school and then college passed away at the tender age of 23... never to marry or to have kids! Really hits home and reminds me of my own mortality and the times I have wasted... If God had only let her hold on one more week she would have been flown to Germany to see a surgeon who might have just prolonged her life a little longer... So emotionally distraught....

No man who has chosen well and wisely will ever credit it to fate; the only real fatalist is a man on his way down the pipe. There is no solace in fatalism. A believer is robbed even of the pleasure of shouting, “Fuck you, I quit,” because he knows he was born a quitter and it would be only a matter of time before he threw in the towel, surprising no one, not even himself.
- Dr. Hunter S Thompson, Rum Diary

“At the same time, I shared a dark suspicion that the life we were leading was a lost cause, that we were all actors, kidding ourselves along on a senseless odyssey. It was the tension between these two poles – a restless idealism on one hand and a sense of impending doom on the other – that kept me going.” —Rum Diary-Hunter S. Thompson (via 91adinfinitum)

“They were naked, standing in waist-deep water, with her legs locked around his hips and her arms around his neck. Her head was thrown back and her hair trailed out behind her, floating on the water like a blonde mane…
…The scene i had just witnessed brought back a lot of memories- not of things i had done but of things i failed to do, wasted hours and frustrated moments and opportunities forever lost because time had eaten up so much of my life and i would never get it back. I envied Yeamon and felt sorry for myself at the same time, because i had seen him in a moment that made all my happiness seem dull.”
